Monthly Life Update 3/18: Munich love, one month after the Vero hype and bloggers vs. journalists

Herzlich willkommen zu meinem dritten monatlichen Update für 2018, das in zweierlei Hinsicht etwas anders ist:

Zum einen habe ich eine neue Kategorie eingeführt. Unter “Münchenliebe” erzähle ich euch ab sofort, was ich in meiner (nicht mehr so) neuen Heimatstadt erlebt, besucht, gesehen oder gegessen habe. Sicher sind ein paar gute Tipps für euch dabei. 😉

Zum anderen beschäftigt mich ein Thema, das in keine der Kategorien passt. Kein Problem – ich erzähle euch einfach so davon: Vor etwas mehr als einem Monat war der Hype groß um die neue Social Media-App Vero. Auch ich hatte mich angemeldet und bin seitdem dort aktiv (meinen Beitrag darüber findet ihr hier). Einen Monat später ziehe ich Bilanz:

Positiv. Der chronologische Feed gefällt mir nach wie vor sehr gut, und auch, dass die App an der letzten Stelle “stehenbleibt”, an der ihr sie verlassen habt. So verpasst ihr keine Beiträge. Die Sichtbarkeit funktioniert über die Hashtags super, und teilweise haben meine Bilder – ungefähr zur selben Zeit gepostet – in der ersten Stunde bei Insta und Vero gleich viele Likes. Verrückt. Vero hat mir auch (u. a. über die Hashtags) die Möglichkeit gegeben, neue Accounts zu entdecken, wo ich im Insta-Wust schon lange niemanden mehr finde, der mich wirklich inspiriert.

Negativ. Auf Twitter habe ich zu Vero sinngemäß gelesen: “Die App kann noch so social sein, wenn es die User nicht sind, bringt es auch nichts.” Dem muss ich zustimmen – auch auf Vero gibt es die Rosa-Wölkchen-Locken-Blumenstrauß-Accounts, die schon auf Instagram einfach langweilig sind. Und leider gibt es auch die Follow-Unfollow-Spezialisten. Ich frage mich immer noch, wer die Zeit für sowas hat. Aber manche Menschen scheinen das nötig zu haben – auf Vero ist mir ein Account aufgefallen, der mir ungelogen seit circa zwei Wochen jeden Tag neu folgt. WTF.

Nutzt ihr Vero noch? Was ist euer Eindruck?

Gelesen Diesen klasse Post von Franzi von Zukkermädchen über den unsäglichen FAZ-Artikel zu Chiara Ferragnis Nachwuchs. Worum ging’s? Eine FAZ-Journalistin war der Auffassung, ihre unqualifizierte Meinung zur Geburt von Chiaras Sohn mitteilen zu müssen, und das auf sehr unschöne Art und Weise. Der ganze Artikel triefte nur so von einer negativen Einstellung gegenüber dem Berufsbild des Bloggers, und unter anderem behauptete sie, Chiara sei nur Mutter geworden, um ihr Kind öffentlichkeitswirksam inszenieren zu können.

Neben der feministischen Perspektive, die Franzi in ihrer Antwort darauf einnimmt und die ich absolut vertrete, finde ich einen anderen Aspekt des Artikels ebenso erschreckend. Wer kann sich noch guten Gewissens Journalist nennen, der so einen Unsinn verzapft?! Der Abgesang auf das Influencertum (und nebenbei die vollkommen respektlose Behandlung einer Person, die die Autorin noch nie getroffen hat) entspricht keinem der journalistischen Qualitätskriterien; er ist durchweg subjektiv, unausgewogen, voreingenommen und stellt aus der Luft gegriffene Behauptungen auf. Diese Frau hat eine große Plattform, und ich finde es furchtbar, dass sie es nötig hat, sie mit so viel Negativismus zu füllen. Habt ihr den Artikel gelesen und was meint ihr dazu?

Gesehen Bücher und Filme habe ich im März irgendwie nicht geschafft; dafür habe ich viel bei YouTube angesehen. Vor allem die Videos von Jasmin und Victoria habe ich besonders gerne geguckt, da sie für mich etwas Entspannendes an sich haben.

Geschrieben Im März habe ich es durchgezogen und jede Woche zwei Posts veröffentlicht. Unter anderem zeige ich euch meine Lieblingsfarbkombi für den Frühling und habe eine neue Jeansform für mich entdeckt.

To Do Ich frage mich, wann ich “Blog richtig aufsetzen” hier mal streichen kann. Bis dahin steht noch etwas Reiseplanung für unseren Urlaub im April an. Und unser Balkon könnte ein Make-over vertragen – ich muss demnächst mal Pinterest wälzen.

Münchenliebe Vergangenes Wochenende habe ich die “Du bist Faust!”-Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle besucht. Schon in der Schule hat mich Goethes Meisterwerk fasziniert, und umso spannender fand ich die Sammlung von künstlerischen Darstellungen zum Drama. Die Ausstellung und das Faust-Festival, in dessen Rahmen sie stattfindet, laufen noch bis Ende Juli.

Welcome to this slightly different third monthly update for 2018! I got two new ideas:

Firstly, I created a new category. In “Munich Love”, I’m sharing things I saw, experienced, ate and saw in my (not so) new hometown. I’m sure you’ll pick up some tips. 😉

Secondly, I want to talk about something that wouldn’t quite fit into one of the categories: My personal conclusion one month after the big Vero hype. I signed up, too, and am using the app ever since (find my first post on this topic here). Here’s my experience so far:

Pro. I still like the chronological feed, and that the app brings you back to the last photo you saw when you left it, so you won’t miss any posts. I have the feeling that my posts are very well visible based on the hashtags I use (unlike Instagram) and sometimes when I post one photo on both platforms, they’ll have the same amount of likes within the first hour. Crazy. What’s more, Vero has given me the opportunity to discover a bunch of new accounts, whereas on Instagram I feel you can’t really “discover” inspiring new people to follow anymore.

Con. On Twitter, I read about Vero: “The app can claim to be social, but if its user don’t act socially themselves, it won’t be.” I have to agree – on Vero, you’ll find the accounts with the pink sky, long curly hair and the mandatory bouquet of flowers that are sooo boring on Insta already. And unfortunately, you’ll also find the ones specialized in this pointless follow/unfollow game. I keep asking myself who the F has time for this?! But some people seem to need this – on Vero I noticed one account that has followed me anew every day for the last two weeks. WTF.

Read A column by German blogger Frances (only in German, I’m afraid) relating to a – also German – newspaper article about how Chiara Ferragni is a narcissist for having built her own brand, making most of her life public and becoming a mother. I’ve seldom read such a pile of bullshit as the author (a woman, by the way) is convinced that being a blogger/influencer isn’t a real profession and just seems to envy Chiara’s life. Apart from the fact that the article isn’t based on any journalism ethics, it makes me sad that it’s an example for women not supporting each other but rather being negative about another one’s success. After all, if Chiara was a man, I’m almost sure this wouldn’t even be a topic.

Seen I didn’t really have time to read books or watch a major movie in March; instead, I watched a lot of YouTube videos. I especially liked Jasmin’s und Victoria’s videos because I find them somehow relaxing and can unwind while listening.

Written This March I managed to publish two posts a week. Among others, I showed you my favorite color combo for spring and discovered a new denim cut that I love.

To Do I’m wondering when I can scratch “setting up the blog properly” off this list. Until then, I have to do some planning for our vacation in April, and collect some ideas on how to decorate our balcony. Pinterest should help.

Munichlove Last weekend, I visited the “You are Faust!” exhibition in the Munich art hall. Back in school, I have already been fascinated by Goethe’s masterwork, and I enjoyed the exhibition about how artists have looked onto the story and the characters. You can still visit the exhibition and a whole Faust festival in Munich until the end of July.
