Outfit: Slippers & Pastel or Some Thoughts on Style

Was ist eigentlich Stil? Wir reden oft darüber – jemand hat “seinen eigenen Stil”, “das ist nicht mein Stil”, “stilsicher sein”. Ich möchte das Outfit von heute zum Anlass nehmen, um ein bisschen über Stil zu philosophieren. Wie findet man seinen eigenen Stil und was, wenn nicht?

Viele Blogger haben sich darüber schon Gedanken gemacht (zum Beispiel Nina oder Masha). Gerade die Vollzeit-Blogger haben allerdings einen besonderen Fokus darauf, schließlich stehen sie mit ihrem Stil für etwas ganz Bestimmtes, bilden sozusagen eine eigene Marke. Ich denke auch über Stil nach, und ob ein Kleidungsstück oder Outfit zu mir (und meinen anderen Sachen) passt. Wie bei vielem bin ich aber auch bei Stil pragmatisch und würde behaupten, mein Stil hängt erstens von der Stimmung ab und hat sich zweitens von selbst entwickelt, ohne dass ich allzu viel darüber nachgedacht habe.

Meiner Meinung nach entsteht der eigene Stil, wenn man bemerkt, dass man wiederholt zu ähnlichen Sachen bzw. Teilen, die in eine Richtung gehen, greift. Bei mir sind das zum Beispiel helle Farben (zur Zeit viel weiß, hellblau, rosa), Jeans, Blusen, meine Lederjacke und roségoldener, filigraner Schmuck. Viele dieser Teile sind gerade Trend, wie pastellfarbene Blusen mit Rüschen oder Jeans mit Löchern. Dazu kommen weitere Trendteile, zu denen ich auf Basis meiner “Stil-Definition” oben nicht sofort gegriffen hätte: Overknees, der Camel Coat Netzstrümpfe oder auch die schwarzen Pseudo-Gucci-Slipper. Die Stücke gefallen mir auch gut (auch wenn sie nicht pastellfarben sind :P) und die Kombination macht für mich dann einen Look aus.

Long story short: Stil passiert für mich auf der Grenze der Komfortzone. Oder anders gesagt: Stil ist für mich eine Mischung aus Teilen, zu denen ich oft greife, und Teilen, zu denen ich eigentlich nicht greifen würde. Klar soweit?

Und was hat das jetzt mit diesem Outfit zu tun? Ich finde, es ist typisch für mich: Helle Farben, meine Lieblingshose, die super bequem ist und die ich fast immer tragen würde wenn es ginge, plus roségoldener Schmuck. Dazu die Trendteile Bomberjacke, Sonnenbrille, Netzstrümpfe und Slipper. Et voilà – mein Stil!

So what exactly is this “style” everyone’s talking about? Someone has “their own style”, “I like her style” – we use those phrases quite often. Today I want to talk about style, using this outfit as an example. How do you find your own style?

Many bloggers have already reflected on this, for example Nina or Masha. Especially the full-time bloggers have a special focus on this issue as they represent their own brand with their style. I think about style as well, and wonder if a piece or a complete outfit matches me, my personality, and my other clothes. But, as with many other things, I deal with this pragmatically and in my opinion, style firstly depends on my mood and secondly developed itself, without me thinking too much.

I think you develop your own style once you notice that you keep picking similar pieces repeatedly. For me, these are light colors like white, clear blue, and pink, jeans, blouses, my leather jacket and delicate rosegold jewelry. A lot of those pieces are kind of trendy right now, like blouses in pastel colors with frills or distressed denim. I add some more trend picks that I wouldn’t have normally chosen based on my “style definition” above: over-the-knee-boots, the camel coat, fishnet tights or the black fake Gucci slippers. I like those garments as well (even if they’re not of pastel colors :P) and think that the whole look is based on the combination of these two types of pieces.

Long story short: Style for me is what happens on the border to your comfort zone. Or rather: Style is a mixture of pieces I like to wear often and pieces I wouldn’t pick in the first place. Get it? 🙂

And what does my personal definition of style have to do with this outfit? I think it’s typically me: Light colors, my favorite jeans that is super comfy and that I would wear every day if possible, and rosegold jewelry. In addition, a bomber jacket as a trend piece, sunnies, fishnets and slippers. And voila – my style!
